Thanks for the write-up. I have been researching pfSense for a while and did an install last night. I found the interface more difficult than SmoothWall Express, but that's to be expected because there are a ton more features here (which is why I'm leaving SmoothWall Express).

Question - Could you go into detail on how you got your second WAN connection up? Does it have to be on it's own NIC or can I multihome a single WAN NIC?

I have been using pfsense for more than a year with 2 cable connections, 1 @ 3mx1m and the other at 8mx512k. I don't load balance but I do have specific traffic (DMZ, management) go over the 3x1(static ip's) and all my personal traffic go over the 8x512. QoS is used extensively and works great. The rules are far more flexible than any commercial router I have used (cisco, sonicwall, netgear, etc.) Simply the best firewall out there! I have 2 DMZ's, 2 Lan's and 2 Wan's, it's plain awsome!

Hi,

i think pf sense is a great product .

you have done justice by writing this review.

Software like this empower the "IT GUY" not the "IT COMPANY" like Cisco for Cisco pix.

i have saved money for my company by choosing pf sense over pix.

and i am happy abt the results.
