For those of you who run SSH servers (either on Windows or a UNIX variant), make sure that you are secure… For the past few days, there has been an increase in SSH server scanning and vulnerability checking. I noticed this yesterday when I was running an ethereal capture on the WAN side of our firewall at the office (had a pesky user in France who was attempting to DOS our server for some unknown reason – normally a single user wouldn’t present a problem, but when you have extremely limited bandwidth, it becomes a big problem) and saw numerous SSH scans and attempts to connect to our firewall. A quick check at incidents.org verifies that others have noticed this problem too…
So just be careful out there.
